AMA (NSW) President: Work for home, if possible
December 21, 2020AMA (NSW) President: Time to make masks mandatory
December 31, 2020AMA (NSW) President, Dr Danielle McMullen is urging all NSW residents to limit their activities over the holidays.
“NSW Health’s contact tracing team is doing a phenomenal job, but we shouldn’t be relying on them to contain this crisis,” Dr McMullen said.
“They are working around the clock, missing time with their family and loved ones, to curb this COVID outbreak. But at what point will we exhaust their capabilities?
“We could make their lives a little easier if we restrict our activities in the community.
“Next time you get ready to head out the door, ask yourself ‘is this really necessary?’ If it’s not, then stay home,” Dr McMullen said.
“If you do need to move about in the community remember to wear a mask, be physically distant, practice good hand hygiene and scan the QR code at businesses and restaurants you visit.
“I know everyone is thinking about Christmas, but regardless of what restrictions NSW Health puts in place, residents should be thinking about their plans Boxing Day and beyond.
“While new case numbers have been low, we are nowhere near being out of the woods. Think about what you can do – or not do – in 2021 to make next year COVID-free,” Dr McMullen said.
