SUMMER 2025

In this edition, we highlight the budgetary crisis facing the NSW health system and the solutions needed to attract and retain public hospital doctors. The AMA (NSW) Workplace Relations team provides a detailed spread on managing psychosocial hazards in private practice and navigating online reviews. We hear from doctor-in-training Dr Devin Deo on channelling Bob Dylan to push for recognition and change. We also explore AMA (NSW)’s role in embedding abortion services in existing public pathways, and look at why good GPs are going unnoticed.

AUTUMN 2025

We explore “humanity in practice” — four specialists who go the extra mile for their patients. We look at why vaccine confidence is crumbling and examine the impact of artificial intelligence on medicine. Our Policy team asks what’s next for Australia’s private hospitals as financial pressures mount and services close. The Workplace Relations team shares a practical guide for employers reviewing policies and contracts, and unpacks the evolving wage-theft laws.

WINTER 2025

We analyse how unifying the federal health and disability portfolios could affect doctors and patients. We talk to NSW Young Woman of the Year, Dr Jessica Teoh, and explain AMA (NSW)’s role in the Special Commission of Inquiry into Healthcare Funding — the most significant public system review since Garling (2008). We also celebrate our dedicated 50-year members.
