February 24, 2020AMA (NSW) President: weeklong efforts to raise awareness of risks posed by overweight and obesity
March 1, 2020AMA (NSW) President, Dr Kean-Seng Lim, is congratulating former AMA (NSW) and Federal AMA President, Dr Kerryn Phelps, for winning the NSW Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership.
“You don’t need me to tell you that Dr Kerryn Phelps is an excellent leader, as that has already been repeatedly demonstrated.
“Nonetheless, I would still like to congratulate Dr Phelps and say that she really is an excellent leader.
“She is one of only two women to have led AMA (NSW), as well as being one of only two women to have led Federal AMA.
“More recently, Dr Phelps has been involved in federal politics where she was the architect of the medevac program for asylum seekers in offshore detention.
“Dr Phelps has repeatedly shown, both in her work as a doctor and outside of it, that she has the best interests of her patients and those she is responsible for at heart.
“It’s unfortunate that her considered and compassionate stand for refugees under Australia’s care has been undone.
“However, making it happen in the first place is the perfect example of Dr Phelps’ qualities as a leader.
“On behalf of myself and the AMA, congratulations to Dr Phelps on her well-deserved win,” Dr Lim said.
