AMA (NSW) President: We need to support doctors to work in rural, regional and remote NSW
December 8, 2020AMA (NSW) President: Restrict activities over the holidays
December 23, 2020AMA (NSW) President, Dr Danielle McMullen is urging employers to allow employees to work from home wherever possible.
“Please encourage your employees to work from home if possible. Don’t put them at risk unnecessarily,” Dr McMullen said.
“We need to be extremely vigilant right now to reduce the spread of COVID-19, which means staying home.
“If you have symptoms get tested. But getting a COVID test for the sake of being ‘cleared to come to work’ won’t help reduce transmission.
“Unfortunately, the test only proves you were negative at that point in time. If you get the test and then continue to come to work and move about in the community, you could possibly pick up the virus afterwards. It’s false reassurance.
“The best course of action is to stay home. And if you must leave your house – wear a mask, be physically distant from others and practice good hand hygiene.
“We all want a good Christmas, but this year, that might mean a small gathering with people in your household.
“The best gift you can give yourself and others is to stay home,” Dr McMullen said.
