AMA (NSW) and the NSW Rural Doctors Network, along with other organisations, have partnered to coordinate a response to provide general practice and primary healthcare workforce support to areas of NSW affected by natural disasters. Please contact retention@nswrdn.com.au for more information. Further resources can be found at #RuralHealthTogether.
Many of you may have patients who have been forced to evacuate suddenly and may not have access to their prescription medicine. Patients are encouraged to contact their GP, or go to a local pharmacy to get a three-day emergency supply of medicine. The State Emergency Service may also be able to help.
Doctors’ Health Advisory Service NSW can also provide confidential support and assistance relating to stress, mental illness, drug and alcohol problems and relationship and other personal issues. The NSW & ACT Help Line is 02 9437 6552.
In addition, the The Medical Benevolent Association of NSW (MBANSW) provides counselling and short-term financial assistance through times of crisis, illness, accident, mental health conditions, grief and loss of income to help Doctors and their families in NSW and ACT.
