What doctors at this hospital are saying

What do you value most about your hospital?

“I value being part of teams, being known by staff throughout the hospital, and knowing them as well, cooperating between disciplines/wards.”

“Doctors willing to help each other when workload for individuals was unmanageable. Willing to pay overtime.”

“Car parking.”

If you could change three things at your hospital what would they be?

“- Childcare facilities, available at short notice to decrease need to take FACS leave. – Food other than vending machines available for more hours each day. – More beds (and associated staff) to meet the needs of the population served, as bedblock is increasingly common rather than exceptional.”

“1. Understaffing- rostered on one 15 hour shift weekly plus every second weekend plus 4 sets of 7 nights. Between 1-3 hours of unrostered overtime each day. 2. Patient load- completely unsafe. Regularly 30+ patients per team with one registrar and one JMO only. 3. No access to psychiatry – impossible to have patients seen by psychiatrist (run through videolink at Shellharbour).”

“1. Poor work culture. 2. Unsupportive executive staff. 3. Staff shortages.”
